In the interiors market it is used to great effect in bedrooms and as sheer curtains. Table Wedding Gift bags are also made for sweets such as sugared almonds.
A sumptuous light-weight and transparent sheer silk with an elegant finish and a crisp hand. Amongst the most popular colours is Ivory although the range is also available in a stunning pastels. Princess Margaret at her wedding to Lord Snowdon wore a Wedding Dress which used 30m of white Silk Organza.
Being a woven fabric it’s more susceptible to fraying. One option is to use pinking scissors to cut it but this is not always suitable for the garment you are making. A liquid seam sealant such as Prym Frat Check could also be applied lightly to all cut edges and left to dry for at least 6 hours – this should be done in a well ventilated room; it is also highly flammable.
Silk Organza is woven by a number of mills along the Yangtze River and the Zhejiang Provence in China. A coarser silk organza is woven in Bangalore, India and Deluxe Silk Organza is woven in France and Italy.
You can coordinate this beautifully with our standard weight Crepe Backed Satin Fabric, Non-Curl Duchesse Satin or our stunning Silk Chiffon Collection.
